BHS vs. Jeff Davis Baseball 2018 Playoffs
GHSA AA Semi-final, May 14-15, 2018, Nashville, GA.
Game one stopped for rain and ruled a completed game, with Berrien winning 6-2. Rhett Thomason was starting and winning pitcher, going six innings.
Game two on Tuesday, found Brock Jewell on the mound, getting the loss, with a final score of 3-9. Costly errors allowed the Yellow Jackets to put Berrien in a deep hole, from which they could not overcome.
The Rebels rebounded to take the third and deciding game by a score of 4-1. Darius Tisby, recently hampered by an ankle injury, went the distance on the mound. Clutch hitting and steady fielding put Berrien up 2-1, and, the Rebels added two more in the top of the 7th, when Justin Roberts (#22, 1st baseman), hit a shot to right, sending two Berrien players home, and, add insurance going into the bottom of the 7th, extending their lead to 4-1.
Jeff Davis got a base-on-balls, followed by a ground, force out at 2nd. The Rebels ended the game in style, with, a 4-6-3 double play.
Berrien High Rebels will travel to Savannah to play Benedictine for the championship. A double header will be played on Monday, May 21st, 5:00 and 7:30 p.m., at historic Grayson Stadium.
